Product Life Cycle Management as a Core Process.

Product Lifecycle Management in addition to Customer Relationship Management and Supply Chain Management is one of the key processes in many companies. These processes aim at maximising the value added by products throughout all phases of the product lifecycle. Product Lifecycle Management is designed to assist companies with the digital management of integrated product data – from the initial concept for a product line, through manufacturing, installation and maintenance, to include disposal of a certain unit.

From Collaboration ...

In view of advancing globalisation and specialisation, companies must make constant adjustments to their value chains. Suppliers must not only deliver parts as specified, they are actively involved as partners in development (collaboration). This demands the early and close cooperation amongst various expert teams in the development process with direct access to product data, process information and ideas – and this often from several locations across long distances. At the same time, the company’s product data must be protected from unauthorised access.

... to Configuration Management.

Product lifecycle management supports concurrent engineering by facilitating parallel processes such as product development, purchasing and manufacturing lead times. This enables our clients to appreciate a significantly shorter “time to market”. Additionally, design changes can be consistently managed which permits an examination of the impact on existing parts and keeps the non-conformance costs to a minimum. Over the course of the life cycle, especially in the case of highly complex units, an exact configuration history showing the changes and services performed is essential for efficient, profit optimised and safe operations.

PLM is Process Management.

We help companies in their efforts to transform their lifecycle management processes. The scope of our experience covers: the preparation of the initial business case, the definition of project content (scoping), the As-Is-Process Analysis, the definition of To-Be-Processes, support in requirements specification, the formulation of test strategies, hands-on testing, training, and roll-out support. To this extent, we ensure processes are harmonised and key performance indicators are installed and form an objective foundation for the project’s success.

KARER CONSULTING provides you with a team of experienced experts. Our industry experience and our dedicated knowledge in the field of PLM is reinforced by our experience with process definition and professional project engineering, a combination that guarantees the success in all of your projects. At the same time, we use methods from the field of human capital management in our daily project work to facilitate the change process in the corporate culture.
