Coaching

Our comprehension of Coaching

Coaching means to us “a time limited, aim focused, and career related consultancy” in which the “coachee” (coached person, coached group, etc.) is supported by a coach. Coaching as an occupational consultancy is focusing on the development of the individual abilities and skills of the coached person. The following attributes are characteristic for us:

Coaching is an assisting consultancy by reaching occupational aims

The coach encourages the “coachee” instead of giving instructions. Coaching in the case of consultancy always means “helping others to help themselves”. We interpret coaching as “supporting the advice seeking persons by reaching decisions without making the decisions for them”.

Coaching requires  "voluntariness by the coached person (coachee)"

A coaching process can only be realized when the coachee is willing to accept the support of the coach. The coach is the person who is sharing knowledge of coaching and experiences, based on the coaching competence of the coach.

Coaching is a process- and expert consulting

Expert consulting means that either the “coachee” will be supported by our coach or that an additional expert will be consulted. Process consulting instead is focusing on the development and change process of the “coachee” by making the “coachee” aware of the current communication- / behavior patterns and the motives, which lie behind those patterns. In the next step effective strategies of changing those patterns are developed and trained. Compared to other coaching approaches we understand coaching as a composition of process- and expert consulting. This relates on the personal expetations and goals to be achieved as well as on the current situation.

Neutrality of the coach

The central focus of coaching is the support of the “coachee” by making the right decisions, but is never making the decision for the “coachee”. This means that a coach can only be successful by acting “neutral” in terms of “impartial”. This is why we obligate ourselves in coaching just when we can keep neutrality.
